VT Tent Plunges Into Lake Champlain02/11/2006
| On Saturday February 11, 2006 a number of intrepid souls braved the chilly winter temperatures in order to support Special Olympics Vermont by participating in Burlington's 11th Annual Penguin Plunge that took place at Waterfront Park. Vermont Tent Company has proudly been an official sponsor of this event for four years, providing a heated tent with 13,000 square feet of flooring for the participants to enjoy immediately after their frigid experience in the lake. Six employees were part of the record setting 810 Penguins who took the plunge and dove into the bitter 34-degree waters of Lake Champlain. Vermont Tent's oustanding fundraising efforts allowed the team to raise over $5,000 for the cause, helping to make this year's Penguin Plunge raise a record breaking $268,000 to benefit Special Olympics Vermont. The event was a huge success and an enjoyable day for those who participated as well as over 1,500 spectators who cheered the Penguins from the shores of Lake Champlain. |
